About Soup Sisters
      and Broth Brothers

Fast Facts

Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers is an award winning organization that has received accolades nationwide. The organization was founded in 2009 by Calgarian Sharon Hapton who had a very simple belief in the power of soup as a nurturing and nourishing gesture that could make a tangible difference. Hapton believed that two of societies most prevalent issues, domestic abuse and youth homelessness would benefit from the care and warmth that comes in a bowl of soup. A powerful message that says 'we care' is now being delivered to over 30 residential shelters across the country through home-made delicious soup made with the finest ingredients.

Over 40,000 community people have come together across the country to produce more than 750,000 servings of fresh and delicious soups for women, children and youth in crisis. Soup Sisters believe in the power of soup to deliver a 'Hug in a Bowl' at a time when it is needed most!

Create a Big Stir in your community!

Soup Sisters offers a dynamic philanthropic team building Big Stir experience. Your teams will roll up their sleeves and engage in an event that brings to the forefront awareness of societal issues, our shared value and how we are working together towards building healthier communities - with the simple gift of comfort - nourishing, nutritious soup.

Your guests enjoy a relaxing and inspiring event that will deliver 650-1250 servings of fresh nutritious soup to Calgary's local emergency shelters the very next morning. Your corporate commitment to a private Big Stir event also helps to support Soup Sisters charitable operations.

Upon arrival, guests are offered an appetizer and glass of wine while they mingle during registration. A welcome and introduction from Soup Sisters Founder, Sharon Hapton will provide an overview of the Soup Sisters organization and the local emergency shelters that your company will support that day. The Chef will be introduced and provide advice on soup-making as well as some general housekeeping information.

Chefs and Soup Sisters volunteers guide everyone to the chopping stations and the soup-making begins! Teams of 8 share chopping tables while they work in prepping ingredients for their soup recipes. As soup pots are moved to the kitchen for final cooking, participants will handwrite ingredient labels for soup containers going to the shelter. This personal touch provides an opportunity to send a special message from your company team members. While soups cook, participants proceed to dine with their chopping station colleagues until soups are ready for ladling into individual containers. As guests depart, we ensure the soup is properly cooled and stored for morning delivery.

Finding inspiration to build events that impact your employees and community can be challenging. Soup Sisters understands your end goal and gives you a turnkey recipe for a Big Stir event that brings the community comfort of a Hug In A Bowl to women, children and families in crisis.
