Millarville Soup Sisters

The Millarville Racetrack and Agricultural Society is only 35 minutes southwest of Calgary and hosts our Soup Sisters events in support of Rowan House Emergency Shelter . The Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society has played an important role in bringing local and rural community together for more than a century. They host vibrant and family-oriented events and they are a perfect partner for Soup Sisters event.

Rowan House Emergency Shelter is is a short term, crisis women's emergency shelter situated in the foothills of Alberta's Rocky Mountains, just a half-hour south of Calgary. They provide both residential and outreach services to women and their children affected by violence with a specialized focus on rural communities. They serve the rural Foothills including the communities of Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Longview, Blackie, Nanton, Vulcan, Claresholm, and the surrounding areas.

Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers charge a participation fee per person to cover the expenses of ingredients for the soups, the venue, equipment, supervision, and a Chef or professional facilitator. This ensures that the finest ingredients possible are used every time for the soups we provide to women, children and youth. Events are social evenings with lively conversation, chopping, laughter and warm kitchen camaraderie that culminate in a simple, sit-down supper of soup, salad, bread and wine for all participants. Each event produces approximately 150-250 servings of fresh soup that sustains your local shelter with nourishing and nurturing soup each month.

Events are available upon request. For more information or to book a soup making event contact
