New Jersey Soup Sisters

Soup Sisters proudly launched our second US chapter in New Jersey on October 26, 2017 and delivered almost 200 servings of fresh and delicious soup to Jersey Battered Women's Services (JBWS)

Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers New Jersey proudly supports Jersey Battered Women's Services (JBWS) with a monthly supply of nurturing and nourishing soup that we call a 'Hug in a bowl.'

Founded over 40 years ago, JBWS the only agency of its kind in Morris County whose sole purpose is the prevention of domestic violence through the protection and empowerment of the victims, the rehabilitation of family members, the advocacy for social change to prevent partner violence and the education of the public about domestic violence and its consequences. Comprehensive services at JBWS are provided by a professional staff along with the support of 120 volunteers.

Soup Sisters is honoured to partner with Spectrum 360 where we will hold our soup-making events in their professional kitchen.

Spectrum 360's mission is to provide the highest quality educational and therapeutic programs for individuals with learning, language and social/emotional challenges to achieve their maximum potential as responsible adults in society; recognize and value the individuals' unique abilities, learning styles and differences; and serve as a leader in promoting innovative educational programs. Spectrum360 challenges expectations for children, adolescents, and adults across the full spectrum of autism and with behavioral and related disabilities through innovative special education, employment supports, and community-building.

Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers charge a $65 participation fee per person to cover the expenses of ingredients for the soups, the venue, equipment, supervision, and a Chef or professional facilitator. This ensures that the finest ingredients possible are used every time for the soups we provide to women, children and youth. Events are social evenings with lively conversation, chopping, laughter and warm kitchen camaraderie that culminate in a simple, sit-down supper of soup, salad, bread and wine for all participants. Each event produces approximately 150-250 servings of fresh soup that sustains your local shelter with nourishing and nurturing soup each month.
