Sudbury Soup Sisters

Sudbury Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers have come together in the state of the art commercial kitchen space at College Boreal , for the past five years under the tutelage of Manager Simon Le Henaff and his culinary student volunteers.

Simon brought his warmth and enthusiasm to every Soup Sisters events and ensured that every bowl was delivered with a hug.

Soup Sisters Sudbury launched March 30, 2014 in support of women and children at YWCA Genevra House. In five years more than 15,000 servings of nurturing and nourishing soup, 'hugs in a bowl' has been delivered to Genevra House.

"Being a Soup Sister for the last 5 years will always be huge part of my heart ❤️ and philanthropic memory." says Soup Sister Liz Spooner-Young whose leadership, energy and kindness will long be remembered by the community and Genevra House.

"Soup Sisters has been a wonderful opportunity to meet like minded people… people that enjoy Being of Service while enjoying the company and energy of the work…which doesn’t feel like work because it is fun! I have met wonderful people that I never would have otherwise and learned a lot about YWCA Genevra House and how it supports women and children. As well, making homemade soup is always good for the soul…I always left with a full belly but more importantly a very happy heart! Thank you Sharon and all of the Soup Sisters and Brothers out there for being you and doing what you do! Soup Sisters will have a lasting legacy for many here in Sudbury." Yours in Soup! Soup Sister Louise

When I reflect back on the many Sundays spent making soup for the people at Genevra House Sudbury it made me realize that my life is full of wonderful family and friends who have supported me through difficult times but it also felt good knowing that moms and children were going to be having daily delicious home made soup made by people who wanted to let them know they were loved and thought of. . I will always cherish my memories with Soup Sisters Brother Brothers Sudbury. Thanks for the memories!" Joscelyne Meilleur, Volunteer

"For all the people that took part in stirring it up at an event, to Geneva house for its’ blessed existence and on a personal note how much I have learned from the stories Marlene shared. How strong the woman who found themselves on their doorstep are!!" Lise Laakso College Boreal
